P is for Poinsettia

Poinsettia have been my all time favorite holiday plant! The great thing about the plant is when cut the colored leaf and stick in a vase, they last for ages!

Today, as the evening light shone through my window and illuminated my old spice container vase with the bright red poinsettia popping out, I knew instantly what my twee would be centered around.

Hope you enjoy!

Kimberly's last Twee of 2009

Some things in life look better close up.

This is one of those things. All the other photo's I took of my twee just did not turn out. My twee for this month is not meant to

represent anything in particular.

It is just a burst of color on a snow day that inspired me I guess.

Next year I hope to find some new materials that will inspire me so I can start creating some Twee's

I can be a little more proud of.

Thank you Kandyce for reminding me about my Twee... I needed that reminder. I love your Twee for this month. It is dark, but is

somehow an inspiration in times that are hard. I am excited to see what Twee's will come in 2010!

Until then... Happy Holidays!

Dark November

November - Even though it hasn't been a dark month in terms of weather, my outlook has been somewhat dark. The overlapping text symbolizes a sort of confusion of the mind. The pop of pink and red symbolize a spark of hope inside the dark borders of this world.

"Holiday...Celebrate!"

Yippee! My favorite month. I can't help but love this month. It all starts with my birthday at the beginning which I'm always excited about, and yes, I realize that I tend to have childlike tendencies like loving my birthday as well as enjoying my favorite ice cream, bubblegum but I don't hide it.

The mid part of the month surprises me with lots of lovely fall colors, and the end...

Ahhh...the end...is probably my most favorite. The time when the love of my life and I share our anniversary. This year: numero 5! I mean, hello... could you think of a better month?!

Thinking of these things as I prepared for "MY" month I put pieces together that I received during the last few weeks. The flowers, were part of the paper used to wrap my birthday gift from that guy I really love, the quote is from the October Anthropologie magazine that was slipped into my mailbox ("Hi,my name is Lindsay and I'm an Anthro addict") and the rest, well they were just little bits I liked. Of course I had to document on my collage that the month of Oct. is a holiday and why. I realize that to most October is more like a beautiful autumn month and my version may be a little more dramatized, but... I just had to share my glee to the good people that view our blog, of why this month makes me so happy.

I truly hope your October was special too, even if it was only a beautiful autumn month for you.
Goodbye October,

October Bouquet

Living in Walla Walla during the month of October is simply wonderful. The air is crisp and clear, the trees are making their colorful debut, and for a moment one doesn't dread the impending winter because they are drunk with the beauty of the season's colors.

Seeing that my favorite things in the whole world will be dormant for a few months (hint: flowers) I decided to make this month's collage a fall bouquet.

A Friday and Saturday in October was spent hunting the most vibrant and unique trees, taking pics of their glorious leaves, and pressing the little igneous beauties. A couple of days later - WALLAH - gorgeous little leaves ready for my monthly art piece. My favorite the leaves on the upper left with the black outline, what a statement, so bold!

The lines of the vase mirror the veins of the leaves to create a cohesive look. The shapes of the flowers with clearly defined centers create repetitious pattern with the O's in October and the color palette is complimentary. Yellow, Orange, Blue with a little black for some UMPH!
Repetitious and complimentary - hope you enjoy viewing our blog this month with all the new collages!

Remembering September

Ah yes...September has come and gone, but I was determined to make my post for this (Sep.) month. It was a little tough at times but... WHA-L-A! It is now available for your viewing.
If I think back once upon a time, to last month, on my inspiration for this piece, there is one day that sticks out in my mind. Kandyce and I had decided to go on a lovely little bike ride on a lovely September Saturday. The air was warm and cool, you know the nice kind that is about 75 degrees, and we were walking our bikes on a path beside some trees. Not just any trees though but some Paper Birch trees. Those of you that know me well would not be surprised by my excitement when I saw these trees. If there were people that noticed Kandyce and myself they may have wondered why the squeals when I was pealing off some of that papery bark. I love the stuff. So it so appeared in my Sep. collage. All the other bits in the piece were an afterthought to the superior paper bark! Ahh I may be odd, but isn't just so fun when some of the smallest of things can make you so happy.
New Oct. post soon!! I'm making a vow, (now that I have easier access to a scanner...thank you Kandyce) "Monthly posts will be posted during related month!"
Ciao, Lindsay

This morning I went to the Market and was inspired by all the crisp colors. I went home to put together the two things that sparked my creativity. Those 2 things were color from the market and the saying that you see towards the bottom of the collage. The saying reads: Simplicity is the glory of expectation. - Walt Whitman

Golden 28

September - K.King

Sunday, September 13, 2009

During the month of August I was lucky enough to make one more trip out to the OR coast before it became cold. I was deeply inspired by the grays, blues and pops of intense floral color that dotted the land around me. Those images in my mind were set in stone as I thought about what I would create this month. There is nothing like beauty everywhere in sight, that can get me excited and inspired to create and capture that feeling or emotion that I feel in those moments. Therefore I share a few of the colors that really caught my eye! Ta Ta for now

August has been a month of painting, bike rides through the trees, selling art at the gallery I'm working at and cooking hot muffins, scones, and yummy peach pie. As September begins I look forward to pulling out my warm sweaters and comfortable soft boots. Maybe I'll begin that yoga class I've been wanting to start. ciao for now...

August Heat

August - the end of summer - hot, bright the wildness of summer is winding down the last chances to be free are floating away. Soon turning to taming inhibitions and falling back into routines will come.

Let the last month of summer be a burst of color free and wild - a tribute to June and July.

Scream with excitement - listen to the music louder. Don't let the summer fade into coldness let the warm bright colors into hearts and minds for soon we will fall back into line.
