create a fun video

I thought this film was super inspiring and creative. I like how they shared all the little ways they created this little book.  Which looks like some kind of travel guide.  I also shared a fun video today on my other blog about a young woman who cooks in her little kitchen.  It's so fun to listen and watch her cook up some amazing dishes in such a small area.

Happy creating...oh, I also shared my new job that I started yesterday at kbockmann3.blogspot.com

let yourself be FREE

Different things inspire me for different reasons.

Today's post is images that inspire.  I like these tags that could be used for packaging or just as decoration in your home.  The last 2 images are imagery that pops out at me for shape or color.

a quote to leave you with...relating to creating.

"Feel what comes and let it go.  Doubt and judgement  will arise.
You may at times feel silly or lost.  Try simply to notice those
feelings and let them pass.  The important thing is to begin."

Taking a break.

So, as Lindsay and Kim know I am not a big, big painter. What I mean by that is I don't paint large pieces. Fear grips me and the white space is too overwhelming. Last night I started a piece and feel as if it has been ruined this morning with the wrong color choices and I feel deflated. However, this large piece inspired a small striped piece, so I can feel glad that something came of it.

I cling to the advice "YOU MUST CREATE" keep going even if it gets hard, push through. So what if the piece ends up in the garbage, practice makes perfect!

For all you creatives that stuggle... pray, go for it, and have no fear!

Here's a pic of the striped piece inspired by the bigger "ruined" piece coupled with a print.

Kitchen/dining room = Studio

Looking forward to a possible art show in May at The Garden Vegan Cafe in downtown Walla Walla, but our kitchen/dining room has been overtaken!

Here is a sneak peak of and new piece and a collection of ones I hope to show.

New Piece- a little scared to keep going. Fear always gets in the way of me working on bigger pieces.
This one may remain "undone."

Groupings of paintings, prints, and drawings to be matted and framed.

tape it

I use Washi tape  to create all the time.  If you click on the washi tape it will take you to a great Etsy shop to buy some.  It's great for card making, taping photo's on the wall or wrapping a gift extra special.  I'd love to hear how you use Washi tape.

Oliver Jeffers

I wanted to share Oliver Jeffers with you since I just found him...well not really.  I've seen his books in the children's section of the bookstore.  I just didn't realize this work was from the same person.  I felt inspired by the his way he fills his sketchbooks.  He paints and sketches and also adds different papers too.  It almost looks like an old calendar in one.  I love this none rule approach to creating..

I just discussed this very topic yesterday on Kbockmann3.  The stress of creating something great appose to creating to JUST create.  Do you have thoughts on that?

Have a great TUESDAY! K

March

Why these images inspire me?

I know March is almost over but I was thinking I could create this idea again for next month.  I love this idea for creating art projects too.

WORDS inspire.  I have quotes all around my home.  I wanted to share a few with you.

I am loving designs and patterns lately.  This rug is so great.  I can't wait till I have wood floors again one day and I can have a rug like this one.

Last, this weekend was spent mostly in San Francisco with friends visiting.  We had such a great time together.

I hope you had a great weekend as well.

Fun in Adobe Illustrator

Playing around with design and branding. This orchid looking shape was created out of two K letters backed up against each other. The doodling began after that. Scanned the doodle in, set my live trace options in Adobe Illustrator and added some color. Having fun in my design programs tonight.
Hope you enjoy some bright color on a dark night.

Journals

Lindsay bought Kimberly and I these journals for Christmas and we have all been trying to keep each other accountable to CREATE! I was inspired by Lindsay and Kimberly yesterday as I saw their journal entries. As the sun streamed through my back sliding glass door, I collaged a bit. Here's a snippet of an older entry and a NEW one!

Lovin' me some envelopes and string. Triangle pattern inspired by my thrift outing yesterday (saw old packaging with this sort of design on it).

Old entry.

Artist time

Hello creative friends.

I have set goals this week and every week to get me painting. Yesterday and today I've been sticking to it.  It's so frustrating though.  I used to sit and paint for hours and think it had only been a few minutes.  I find myself now checking the time, feeling frustrated and questioning my ability.  I think I have to stop being so hard on myself.  I really feel like my artist self has changed.  I guess I have to remember I can't expect it to be exaactly the same when it's been so long since ART and I hung out.

Love this quote -k.king

-i want to live in this shop!

The moment I set my eyes on this store I wanted it.  I've had this dream of owning my own shop/boutique since I was about 8 years old.  This looks kinda like my dream. I love the natural woods, crisp whites and branches everywhere that makes it feel like your outdoors.  I  L O V E  IT!

The reason I posted this is because this inspires me to never let my dream go.  I know it won't happen for a long time but this is life.  I still believe!  Anyway, this space really ispired me in so many ways.  I am a kinesthetic person. Which means I love touch and the feeling of the outdoors.  This space speaks to my heart.  And not only that...it's a vintage boutique.  So it has fun rare finds.  You can see the new stages on their blog.

check out their blog if you'd like:69 vintage

What are some of your dreams?  What makes you lay awake at night dreaming of new idea's or desires.  I know I have all kinds of patterns to sew, cards to make and paintings to paint.  It's fun to be a creator.

Enjoy your day.  Today's a special day! It's Rob and I's 6 month anniversary!   :)

loving yellow

The business cards I love.  Emma who is a graphic designer created them herself.  I love the stamp idea.  I already have some business cards from moo.com but I think my next business card will look similar to this.

I have a new lemon on my little lemon tree.  I think it time to squeeze it into some water.  mmmmm....fresh.

One last thought for you...

Rob (my husband) helped me create a visual outline for all my artistic goals.  It helped me so much.  I had all these idea's just sort of floating around in my head.  So see it visually written down helped me organize and make it feel real to me.  This week I probably painted a total of 6 hours which is great for me.  I used to paint a lot more but this is a great start on the right path.

Thanks for reading.
